Bonus Subsidy for Photovoltaics

The program concerns 300,000 households, small entrepreneurs and farmers. It will enable them to build a small photovoltaic up to 10 kw together with a battery on the roof and with this, they will be able to offset the energy they produce with the one they consume.

The photovoltaic program is expected to run with a bonus subsidy for those who choose to install an energy storage battery. Information indicates that the subsidy is expected to fluctuate at the level of 30% – 40%. However, it will be even higher for those who choose to combine PV with a storage battery: In this case the subsidy is expected to be on the 60%. This will cover the largest part of the total cost of spending on photovoltaics.

The integration methodology is expected to follow the model of Execoonmo. According to the prevailing scenario, there will be no income criteria, but the selection of the beneficiaries will be prioritized. Applications on gov.gr are expected to start at the end of March.

Beneficiaries for solar roof subsidies

The scheme will open to 250,000 potential beneficiaries, subsidizing the installation of photovoltaic systems of up to 10kW on the roofs of homes, businesses and farms. However, this does not mean, however, that all beneficiaries of the program will install a photovoltaic with a power of 10kW.

The procedure foresees the involvement of an energy inspector at the initial stage who will determine the required power according to the needs of each household and each business.

It is noted that the needs of an average household are covered with a power of about 6kW. The program is structured with subsidies for 250,000 units of 10kW and thus it is estimated that as long as the program runs, additional space will gradually emerge for subsidies to more beneficiaries. The new beneficiaries will initially arise from the kW that will be "surplus".

That is, since the program covers potential photovoltaics with a total power of 2.5 million kW, and from the application of the program it appears that of the 250,000 beneficiaries, 1.5 - 2 million kW are included in the program, the program will open in the next phase, including more beneficiaries for subsidy.

Of the 250,000 permits announced by the government, 100,000 will be for residential use, 75,000 for commercial housing and 75,000 for agricultural exploitation.

The subsidies are expected to be of two speeds:

30 % – 40% for those who choose to install simple PV

60% for those who install a photovoltaic with a battery in which the energy produced by the photovoltaic can be stored when it is not in use.
